In another case of lucky timing, light rain started to fall just after I delivered this modern pink and black Gympie wedding cake.Β With a few small adjustments, this cake was recreated from an original design by the lovely, and very talented Jennifer Hill of Salt Cake City.

This great contemporary design nicely complemented the decorations at the reception venue. As for the decorations on the actual cake, the sides of the top tier were quilted, while the top was left clean and simple with the exception of my cake signature: two little lovebirds.

With edible pink and black vertical stripes, the middle tier also featured a bright, silver buckle, with the initial of the happy couple’s last name piped in the middle. Finally, the bottom tier was decorated with a bold, black damask pattern, which stood out very nicely against the baby pink-coloured fondant.

Flavours included: caramel mud cake, dark chocolate mud cake, and white chocolate mud cake | Bonnie’s Cakes & Kandies
Guests were treated to three different flavour options with caramel mud, white chocolate mud and dark chocolate mud cake making up the tiers. I love that the decorations on each tier were as different as the flavours, while using the same colours to tie the whole design together.
Congratulations to the bride and groom! I’m so pleased the rain didn’t set in but instead hopefully gave them a little bit of good luck on their wedding day π
