Two lovebirds, one love story {Gympie wedding cake}

Michelle and Anthony married last month, with their wedding held at Gunabul Homestead in Gympie. While I didn’t meet the couple personally, bride Michelle was so sweet and wonderful to work with that I feel honoured to have been a part of their wedding day.

Michelle’s wedding cake and cupcakes were inspired by one of my previous cakes. Instead of using wooden lovebird toppers and fresh flowers to decorate the cutting cake, Michelle asked me to recreate these details in icing. I do love to make icing roses!

The flavour chosen for the cutting cake was my delicious caramel mud cake, with a white chocolate fondant covering. Chocolate cupcakes for the guests were arranged on one of my custom made wooden stands! I had only just had this stand made when Michelle and I finalised her booking. I asked Michelle if she would like to see a photograph of the stand or to just walk in to her reception room and be surprised. She chose the latter, and I was so happy to hear afterwards that it was a hit!

To the lovebirds, Michelle & Anthony – it was such a pleasure. Thank you for allowing me to play a part in your wonderful wedding day. Here’s wishing you an amazing life together as your love story continues for so many years to come!
