Dreamy ombre buttercream for a Sunshine Beach wedding cake

Sometimes a cake will come together with no trouble at all. From start to finish, everything runs smoothly. There are no traffic problems to navigate during delivery; the cake table is dressed, ready and waiting for the cake, and the staff at the reception venue are wonderful and welcoming. Everything comes together like a dream!

And so it was with Nick and Carly’s wedding cake last year. These two people are a truly beautiful couple, and it was a joy to make and deliver their wedding cake to the Sunshine Beach Surf Lifesaving Club. A big thank you to their photographer, Rachel, from Immortalising Moments, who has kindly sent me one of her beautiful images of Nick & Carly’s cake:

It was a pleasure to meet with Nick and Carly the day after my own daughter’s wedding. From there we worked together to create the perfect flavour for their wedding cake – combining and fine-tuning some of my existing cake recipes in the process. Both tiers were made in choc-orange-almond cake, with a super strong orange flavour, and a high percentage cocoa dark chocolate. The cake was gluten free, dairy free, and peanut free, and I was thrilled to hear from the beautiful bride and groom afterwards:

Kind words from the happy couple.

Thank you again to Rachel from Immortalising Moments for her beautiful photograph and permission to share! Nick and Carly – thank you for trusting me to create your wedding cake. It has been a joy to meet you and work with you, and I wish you both the greatest happiness together!
