By request, I have another vintage wedding cake to share today! (View the original post by clicking here.)
This cake comes from the vault of of my June 1990, Mt Isa wedding cakes.
All made in fruit cake, the three tiers are separated by pillars…not such a popular style with today’s cakes, which are mainly displayed with tiers stacked directly on top of each other.
Each tier of this cake features garrett frills and piped embroidery around the sides. The flowers include pink roses and rose buds, mauve violets, and blue forget-me-nots. There are also some arum lilies and white filler flowers.
The pretty ‘waterfall’ of icing flowers cascading down the side of the cake was wired this way at the bride’s request, and I think it gave a lovely effect.
In the next post, I’ll be sharing a more modern style with a wedding cake from not only this decade, but also this month ;). Have a great day!
